Corporate design, website and booking platform for the Museumspädagogisches Zentrum München
Museums, experienced together

Museums, experienced together

01 Context
Bringing young people to art and culture is getting harder. The Museumspädagogisches Zentrum (MPZ) in Munich is the education partner for teachers and pedagogical staff when it comes to cultural education in museums. MPZ wants to open people to museums and culture, and at the same time faces the job of communicating a very varied offer from very different museums to a mixed audience. We designed a corporate design that flexes to different contexts, and developed the concept for a website with an integrated booking platform, that opens users a targeted way to the offers relevant to them.
02 Method
Starting from how MPZ sees itself, as the one that sets things in motion, we developed a visual identity that deliberately steps away from the dusty picture of pedagogy. Clear type, a reduced mark, and a flexible colour system carry professionalism, while illustrative elements and modular key visuals, depending on context, make lightness and play. A corporate design manual translates these building blocks into simple rules, so internal teams and external partners can work consistently in the MPZ look. In parallel we thought the website strictly from the users' side: an interface sorts the range of offers, landing pages by audience gather all relevant content and lead a short way to the booking. Accessibility was not an afterthought. We conceived corporate design and platform as accessible and WCAG-conformant from the start. Our partner Zum Kuckuck did the build.
03 Result
The new corporate design underlines MPZ's claim as the one that sets things in motion, and as the central point of contact for cultural education in museums in Munich and Bavaria. The brand can now do both: serious in front of a specialist audience, open in how it speaks to young people. Together with the website, a system comes into being that can be looked after, extended and adapted at a reasonable effort. A stable ground for the further development of brand and digital identity.
