01 Context

Objects full of detail, rooms that lift you, stories that hold you. The Frauenkirche Dresden has everything a visit needs. A lot of it stays unseen on the classic round. Some details you can only guess at from a distance. Some stories never get told. The depth is there. It just doesn't reach everyone. How do you make that depth available without filling the space with signs, screens and tech? A place that stands for peace and reconciliation can take neither a digital noise floor nor a visual flood of information. That is where the web app "Erfahrungswege" begins. It brings the stories out of the walls, the ceiling and the objects to the visitors, without covering the place itself.

02 Method

Our idea: not to explain the building, but to tell through it. The paths link objects, rooms and stories into routes visitors walk at their own pace. At the end of the analogue round, a pointed question picks them up. That's where the digital journey starts. Room and object snippets serve as orientation, and tie each stop to a concrete place in the church. For the interface we built on the existing corporate design: a light interior, gold accents, plus fresh pastels that lead through the four themes. Icons we drew ourselves pick up architectural elements of the Frauenkirche and bridge the real room and the digital path. From concept, interface design, iconography and prototype came the template for the web app.

03 Result

The Frauenkirche now has a digital channel that opens its depth beyond classic tours. Ten paths sit across four themes, linking four rooms and around thirty objects into routes a visit alone cannot show. For visitors, a guided but individual journey: background, deeper information, new angles, at their own pace, during the visit or from home. The visit doesn't end at the door. It can be thought further. We were responsible for the concept, the design, the iconography and the prototype. Our partner Zum Kuckuck built it. So the Frauenkirche is visible not only as a landmark, but as a place that tells its own stories.
