01 Context

Three rented vine rows, grandma's old laundry room, no picking bucket and no tractor, but a lot of heart. That's how Alexandra and Christian Ehrlich started making Franconian wine in 2008. Out of love, without a big plan to make money. What grew over 15 years was a brand full of character: a woman from the Saar with Franconian wine in her heart, a Rödelsee wine with a style that reaches as far as France, a wine family around the Schwanberg. It was always clear what 3 Zeilen Wein stands for: love of nature, their own path. Less clear was how that shows on the outside. Identity and position had never been sharpened. Right at the point where a calling was becoming a profession, they needed an identity that could keep up.

02 Method

Down to earth, and still full of character. We made that contrast the idea. 3 Zeilen Wein breaks with the usual without losing where it comes from, and that's what you should see. We set the wordmark in three lines: the name becomes the picture. Plus a reduced signet from the numeral "3" and a small handwritten "z". Clear, modern, immediately recognisable. In the corporate wording we pushed the same contrast: a clear statement, a warm tone, no agency gloss. Instead of smoothing Alex and Chris's unconventional manner, we made it the core of the identity. A visual identity that shows what the two of them are, and how they work: steadily different, honestly good.

03 Result

What we made is an identity that puts the essential in focus: honest wines, made by hand. For 3 Zeilen Wein we developed the full corporate design, designed the wine labels and the rest of the packaging, plus photography, social assets, posters and flyers. We designed website and shop, from the identity to how the product is shown. Today the brand makes what it stands for visible: organic not as a seal, but as a way of working. Hand harvest, wild yeasts, Bioland rules, lower yields for fruit that hasn't been loaded. What is honest and lasting in Alex and Chris's work now shows in the identity, not only in the glass. Wine made off the usual path, in keeping with nature, and with themselves.
